Всем привет! Работаю из под OpenSuSe 11.1, из архива распаковываю OpenSuSe 10.3.

Делаю так:

Подготовил новый диск (SCSI 0:3):

Смонтировал диск:
# mount /dev/sdc1 /tmp/maket_system/

Разлил из архива систему:
# duplicity --no-encryption --force -v 7 file:///house/maket_archive/ /tmp/maket_system/
Ставлю загрузчик:
# grub-install --recheck --root-directory=/tmp/maket_system /dev/sdc

    GNU GRUB  version 0.97  (640K lower / 3072K upper memory)

grub> root (hd0,0)

# umount /tmp/maket_system/
# init 0

После этого подключил винчестер к другой виртуальной машине (SCSI 0:0) и попытался загрузиться. На экране появилось вот что:

И все... Что я сделал не так?

This error is returned if a file requested is not a regular file, but something like a symbolic link, directory, or FIFO.
Перевод этой ошибки мне ничего не прояснил.

он настроился на hd0,0 , а не на hd3,0

Так правильно, так и надо. Винт куда он установился я потом подключаю как hd0,0, если быть точным то как SCSI 0:0.

немного не так выразился.
смотрите вывод, был перенастроен hd0,0 , то есть тот который и сейчас загрузочный, а не тот который хотели сделать загрузочным.

Тогда это странно, учитывая, что я использовал вот эту опцию:
--root-directory=/tmp/maket_system /dev/sdc

Тут вроде как четко указано, что ставить загрузчик на 3-ий винт.
А как в таком случае установить загрузчик?
